Chatty Cathy - Insights from me!
Signs of spring are emerging, but winter is still holding fast. Lots of painting and events are just around the corner!
Looking back on 2022, I am struck by the variety of requests that I received. The fun for me is the story behind the paintings - it is important that I capture that, which can prove to be quite challenging at times.
Christmas is upon us and it is worthwhile to reflect on why we celebrate this special day each year. The season of joy is due to the source of joy - lean in and dwell on the true story of Christmas that has eternal life and will fill your heart with love.
Two things I love.... Ice Cream and the beach! What could be better than an Ice Cream Boat coming to you on the water? Maybe a hotdog or pizza too?
Summer is officially here and along with it comes hot humid days but also lots of outdoor fun! With the 4th of July right around the corner, I'm sure you are planning time with family and friends. For me, July will be a very busy, but sacred time with family. I'm coming off of an intense time of painting and commission work and now is the time to slow down a little and enjoy a respite with family!
There's a lot to learn by painting "en plein air" - also known as painting outdoors! Rapidly changing light and weather conditions are challenging, but seeing objects as they really exist in nature is key and a great way to get your colors right!
View me painting live in the gardens during the upcoming Azalea Plein Air Paint Out during the NC Azalea Festival April 1-10. Current exhibitions include the Azalea Art Show, which awarded second place to my oil painting "Silence is Golden"; "Art of the State/State of the Art" exhibit at the Cameron Art Museum in Wilmington starts April 9 - September 18 and features "Almost There", an acyllic beach scene.
Things are heating up in the art world with spring shows lining up and some plein air paint outs scheduled. Look for leads on where to find my work in this blogpost or where to see me painting out and about this spring!
Don't allow boredom to creep into your life - there are so many things to pursue, to learn about, and to try!
Winter creates space to hunker down, enjoy the fire, family, a good book, and painting! We celebrate Valentine's Day this month, so I wanted to send a little love your way and some insights on what I enjoy about Winter.
Happy New Year and Thank You for following my new website! This is the first of my blogging attempts for the purpose of keeping in touch and sharing insights with you about what's happening at Cathy Poulos Art, and maybe a bit about me too! Looking forward to the journey with you!
